PTTK Mountain Shelter in Bartne
Bartne, 38-307 Bartne
Tourist region: Beskid Sądecki i Niski
The building is picturesquely situated on a mountain slope, in a glade with a stream on the edge of a mixed forest (firs, beeches, sycamores) about 200 m from the last buildings of the small Lemko village of Bartne. At the tables under the trees, every tourist looking forward to taking a break will find shade in which to rest after hiking – it is sure that the leader of the band Wolna Grupa Bukowina, Wojciech Bellon, a frequent guest at the hostel, did so on many occasions. The blue trail leading through Banica, Magura Małastowska, Owczary to Gorlice and the Rożnowskie Foothills starts here. The red Main Beskid Trail (the section between Magura Wątkowska and Wołowiec) also runs here, leading through the most beautiful Beskid nooks and crannies.
The shelter is open 24 hours a day, all year round. It offers a total of 34 beds in rooms with anywhere from 2 to 7 beds and the possibility to order hot meals. The facility has public bathrooms: men's and women's, WCs, washbasins, and showers with hot water. It also has a dining room with a traditional fireplace and access to a balcony. The buffet and the shop, where you can get hot and cold soft beverages, bar food and sweets, are open 24 hours a day during the tourist season. There is also a beach volleyball court next to the chalet and, of course, a fire pit.
The shelter can be reached by trails from Bartne, Folusz, Mrukowa, Nieznajowa and Banica (a passable asphalt and dirt road leads from Bartne to the shelter).
The shelter was built between 1974 and 1976 as part of the concept of building small shelters in the mountains, namely PTTK-qualified tourism shelters in the Podhale style intended for individual tourists.
