The Krynica-Zdrój Commune is located in the south-eastern part of the Małopolskie Voivodeship, in the eastern part of the Beskid Sądecki and on the western edge of the Beskid Niski. It consists of the town of Krynica-Zdrój and 8 sołectwos (the smallest administrative units in Poland): Berest, Czyrna, Mochnaczka Wyżna, Mochnaczka Niżna, Muszynka, Piorunka, Polany and Tylicz. There are many natural attractions here. The Poprad Landscape Park was established in the Beskid Sądecki to preserve the unique values of the natural landscape.
It is a typical mountain commune with a tourism and leisure character. Its location in the mountains attracts many tourists and winter sports enthusiasts. In the winter, ski enthusiasts find perfectly prepared ski slopes and the necessary infrastructure, while in the summer, lovers of active tourism and cycling set off on numerous trails in search of adventure. The town provides tourists with a rich cultural offer. The spirits of Jan Kiepura and Nikifor can still be felt on Krynica's promenade. The extensive hotel and conference facilities attract business travellers and numerous congress events.
Krynica-Zdrój owes its fame as a spa to its excellent healing waters, among which the Zuber, a unique water with extremely high mineralisation on a European scale, deserves special attention. The numerous sanatoriums located in Krynica-Zdrój are well-equipped with treatment facilities and can successfully compete with the most renowned centres in the country and abroad.
The Krynica-Zdrój Commune was awarded in the 2019 Małopolska Tourist Treasures competition in the Atmospheric Place category.
