It stands next to the oldest trade route in Poland, over which salt used to be exported to Hungary and wine and wheat imported from Hungary. Between 1784 and 1789, during the reign of Joseph II, the road was transformed into Gościniec Kocierski – the oldest asphalt-surfaced road in Poland measuring 27 kilometres in length. It leads through the Kocierska Pass, at the top of which, still at the beginning of the last century, stood an old inn dating from the end of the 18th century that burned down in 1908, with only a wooden well surviving the conflagration.
The wooden two-storey interior, decorated in a regional style, has a highland atmosphere created by folk props, a fire sizzling in the hearth, and the accompaniment of a band from the Podhale region. The ground floor has a large room with a bar, a large fireplace, and two side rooms, and the first floor has a mezzanine. On sunny days, visit the observation deck, which offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and forests. The inn serves dishes made with regional products.
