Sułoszowa
Sułoszowa
Tourist region: Jura Krakowsko-Częstochowska
There are numerous monadnocks and limestone rocks, most notably the beautiful Hercules Mace. Sułoszowa is known for its unusual arrangement of fields, which, from a bird's eye view, captivate with their charm. Several old homesteads (zagroda okołowa)perches have survived to this day. The St. Lawrence Trail runs through the commune. It is situated on the banks of the St James River, on which is the historic Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus; below which is the source of the River Prądnik. This Jurassic landscape is crisscrossed by numerous cycling and hiking trails, including the best-known Eagle's Nest Trail and the Velo-Prądnik. A real, well-preserved gem on the Trail of the Eagles' Nests is the castle in Pieskowa Skała. Casimir the Great ordered a defensive building to be erected here as early as the 14th century, and its owners, the Szafraniec family, gave it its Renaissance character more than 200 years later. They borrowed the tried and tested designs used for Wawel.
The Sułoszowa Commune was the winner of the 2023 Małopolska Tourist Treasures of competition in the Atmospheric Place category.
