It is 15 kilometres from Kraków to the Bolechowicka Valley. Although it is one of the shortest valleys that form part of the Krakow Valleys Landscape Park, it makes up for it with its picturesqueness and diversity. The waterfall is located in the central part of the Bolechowicki Gorge on the Bolechówka Creek, which flows along the valley floor. It is characterised by a two-stage threshold made of limestone. Each is just about two metres high. As the river flows over them, it impetuously drops down, creating depressions in the bottom that deepen further over time. These are so-called plunge basins formed by the swirling movement of water, sometimes aided by stones, sand, and other hard matter that acts as an abrasive, gradually deepening the plunge basin. Of course, the extent to which the cascade is piled up depends on the weather. Do not count on impressive cascades in the dry season, as you will only see a thin trickle of water. For this, during or immediately after periods of heavy rain, it shows its true beauty.
