Waterfall Sąspowska Valley
Nature
Sąspów
Tourist region: Jura Krakowsko-Częstochowska
The waterfall is located in the final section of the Sąspowska Valley, just before the buildings of Ojców. It is an excellent destination for a trip through this second-largest valley in the Ojców National Park.
The waterfall formed on its southern slope where from the artificial bed of the Sąspówka Creek feeding the nearby ponds, the water overflows into its natural bed. The gradient of the waterfall is not very high, its height being less than five metres. The substrate is limestone, which is completely covered by water only after significant rainfall. It is well worth a trip to this place while enjoying the nature of the wildest valley in the park. The route should not cause any difficulties, as the approximately five-kilometre-long trail leads through flat terrain along the Sąspówka Creek (a tributary of the Prądnik River), surrounded by tree-covered limestone slopes. Interestingly, there are more than a hundred smaller and larger caves in this valley near Kraków and the Seismological Observatory. The valley is quiet and peaceful.
