One pilgrimage trail among those in Małopolska that has particular panache is St Mary’s Route leading from Mariazell in Austria to Jasna Góra in Częstochowa. The idea behind the Trail is to combine walking from one Sanctuary in Małopolska to another with visiting various tourist attractions: museums, ruins, natural sites, etc. The section of its main route which lies in Poland is 328 km (204 miles) long and crosses two regions: Małopolska (Krzeptowki – Zakopane – Jordanow – Makow Podhalański – Kalwaria Zebrzydowska – Alwernia – Krzeszowice – Olkusz) and Silesia. The following sanctuaries lie on its route within the borders of Małopolska: Sanctuary of the Mother of God, Patron of Polish Worker Families in Płoki, Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal and St Rafał Kalinowski in Czerna, Sanctuary of Merciful Jesus in Alwernia, Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima in Trzebinia, Sanctuary of the Passion of Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, Sanctuary of the Mother of God Guardian of Families in Maków Podhalański, Sanctuary of Our Lady of Jordanów in Jordanów, Sanctuary of Our Lady Queen of Podhale in Ludźmierz, and the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima in Krzeptówki in Zakopane.
