The mountain shelter is unique as it is not connected to the power grid; electricity is only available here when the generator is in operation (about two hours in the evening). It has 60 beds in 2-, 3-, 4-, 5- and 10-bed rooms, and it is possible to stay overnight outdoors, in a tent or, for the truly adventuresome, in a sleeping bag on the ground. A large scenic dining room and outdoor tables You will want to enjoy the hostel kitchen's simple and tasty dishes of traditional Polish cuisine  in the large scenic dining room or at the outdoor tables, both of which look out over the western part of the Beskid Niski.

The first structure on Hala Łabowska was a tourist shelter built in October 1953 by the Nowy Sącz branch of the Polish Tourist and Sightseeing Society (PTTK). Further extensions were added between 1973 and 1980, giving the shelter the appearance it has today.

The mountain shelter is an excellent starting point for setting off on the hiking, horse riding and cycling trails. In winter, cross-country skiing trails meet here, and sledges, skis and snowshoes can be hired from the mountain shelter. Among others, the Red Main Beskid Trail, the Count Adam Stadnicki nature trail or the Trans-Beskid Horse Trail converge here.

In addition to catering for individual guests, the shelter organises youth and school camps, summer and winter bivouacs, tourist events, anniversaries and New Year's Eve parties. In September, the Tourist Rally that's named after Major Julian Zubek aka 'Tatar', a well-known Home Army commander who operated in the area, is held here.
