A current proposal to travel the entire Vistula Bicycle Route in Małopolska (220 km) with detours along the local roads of those sections that are still under construction, renovation or in the planning stage.

The trail leads along existing portions of the Vistula Bicycle Route in Małopolska (Brzeszcze-Skawina and Niepołomice-Szczucin) and bypasses the sections that are still under construction (Okleśna, Jankowice) or those being planned in Kraków. Note! On the detour of the Skawina-Tyniec section and from the Wanda-Brzegi bridge, the route overlaps roads with quite heavy traffic and steep inclines. The trail is suitable even for road bikes, because the only gravel or hardened sections are in Kopanka (800m) and Brzeszcze (1 km) and they can be bypassed on local roads. For family trips, we recommend in particular the Niepołomice-Szczucin section, where the route runs almost entirely along the asphalt crest of the Vistula embankments, exiting them only in a few places to let you stop off at local stores and cafes. Along the way, there are several resting places, on average one every 20 kilometres. Some of them are located several hundred meters away from the route, in particular where the route goes along embankments. On this route, riders have to take a ferry from Wietrzychowice to Siedliszowice that during the summer season runs between 6:00 and 20:00. The route is very well marked except for the Skawina-Kraków-Niepołomice section, where the PTTK markings are rather worn, but gpx can be used in this section. At the height of the Niepołomice Forest the route meets with the finished part of the EuroVelo 4 route (VeloMetropolis), in Niedary with VeloRaba, and in Wietrzychowice with the VeloDunajec route. We recommend combining all these routes and existing trails in different options of cycling trips. 64% of the the trail runs on roads free of car traffic. Beginning of the trail: Jawiszowice; end of the trail: Szczucin; total length of the trail: 235 km; difficulty: easy; notes about the route: there are two short but steep climbs (Kamień and Tyniec, ul. Bogucianka). There are also a few gravel and dirt sections: • gravel road across the ponds in Brzeszcze (1 km) • chamfered road in Oświęcim • gravel road on the embankment in Kopanka (800 m) • dirt driveway to the Grunwaldzki Bridge in Kraków (the asphalt one is available from the side of Hotel Forum). The trail bypasses on normal roads the following sections, which are still under construction or in the concept/planning stage: • temporary closure of the embankment due to repairs in Gromiec (2 km) • temporary closure of the embankment due to repairs between Rozkochów and Okleśna (7 km) • temporary closure of the embankment due to repairs between Skawina and Tyniec – ul. Kolna Kraków (10 km) (more at bit.ly/wtrtyniec) • basically unmarked route across the city of Kraków to the border with Niepołomice. Mostly along separated cycling infrastructure except for the Wanda Bridge-Niepołomice section on which a 10 km ride in general traffic is proposed (32 km in total). Maximum elevation: 281 m a.s.l. The lowest point on the route is at elevation: 164 m a.s.l. The route runs through the following protected areas: Landscape parks: Ciężkowice-Rożnów Landscape Park National Parks: Pieniny National Park Natura 2000: Dolna Skawa valley, Ponds in Brzeszcze, Dolny Dunajec. 8% of the route runs through the forest.
