A visit to the Stanisław Lem Garden of Experiments in Kraków is a great opportunity to learn by playing. Thanks to its interactive exhibits, children and adults alike can easily learn and discover many laws of physics. There are approximately 110 pieces of equipment scattered around the Garden – each of them can be touched to experience a physical phenomena through different senses.

Ogród Doświadczeń imienia Stanisława Lema is a branch of the Museum of Municipal Engineering in Kraków. The garden area is divided by the type of installations organised according to several major branches of physics: optics, acoustics, magnetism, hydrostatics and mechanics. Thanks to the installations, it is possible to create a water vortex, send and receive a message using an acoustic telegraph, read the time on a sundial, look through a distorting mirror or inside a giant kaleidoscope, experience optical illusions and find out where these phenomena come from. A visit to the garden is an excellent idea for spending an active afternoon with the whole family. A significant advantage of the garden is that all the equipment is situated outdoors and amongst the greenery. The variety and sophistication of the scientific instruments and equipment increase constantly! The devicesy include a rocket for learning navigation and swings to learn about phenomena in the world of physic. Attractive slides of various shapes will approximate the properties of the fastest fall curve. If you're bewildered by the magnetic movement of the pendulum, spend some time here and you'll understand everything perfectly. In this unusual museum, you can spend time in both 'Odlotowy plac zabaw' and 'Naukowa siłownia'. There is an area where sand is the testing ground ('the Piaskowa planeta' zone), and there is also a vegetable garden with a greenhouse. The organisers have prepared a real gem for the braver ones: a bicycle on a tightrope.  You can ride it under the guidance of an instructor. Who wants to go first?

A visit to Ogród Doświadczeń also allows you to explore geology in the Geo-garden, admire the stars in the Planetarium, take a ride on the toboggan run or discover new smells in the 'Zapachowo' area. It also hosts workshops, demonstrations, sky observations and other interesting activities. The garden is a central feature during various events such as Night of the Museums, Researchers' Night and Stanisław Lem Day.

Ogród Doświadczeń imienia Stanisława Lema is open seasonally. Information on opening hours, tickets and additional events is available at www.mit.krakow.pl/ogrod/
