Chrzanów is a town that with medieval origins and an exceptional historical and natural heritage. Historic 19th- and early 20th-century townhouseson the Market Square with its well-preserved medieval layout.
The Chrzanów Museum is a former manor house dating to the end of the 16th century and a small-town manor house with a beautiful garden. With its Gothic presbytery and Baroque Chapel of St Stanislaus, the Church of St Nicholas is a gem among Chrzanów’s many monuments .
In Chrzanów's Kościelec, it is worth seeing the 14th-century Gothic temple of St John the Baptist with its beautiful furnishings, and in the village of Płaza, the historical church of the Elevation of the Holy Cross, the Starzeński Palace with natural monuments in the manor park (legend has it that one of them hides a treasure), a quarry with the only wholly preserved Hoffman’s lime kiln in Poland (one of the few in Europe). Chrzanów’s unique cemeteries and mausoleumstell the story of the harmonious 400-year coexistence of the Christian and Jewish communities.
For years, Chrzanów was home to Poland’s first locomotive factory ‘FABLOK’. We can find souvenirs of it in the Chrzanów Museum and on the trail specially created to commemorate the locomotive factory.
From Chrzanów it is close to Krzeszowice, Olkusz, Bukowno, Zator and Oświęcim. We will also find plenty of attractions, historical sites, and captivating places there. These include the ruins of the Lipowiec Castle, the Tenczyn Castle in Rudno, the Museum of Western Małopolska in Wygiełzów, the Palace and Park Complex in Młoszowa, the Basilica in Trzebinia, the Marian Sanctuary in Płoki, the Bernardine Monastery in Alwernia, the cascade ponds in Pogorzyce, the junction of the Chechło andVistula rivers in Mętkowa, the Tenczyński Landscape Park and what remains of the ancient Dulowska Forest as well as the Chechło and Balaton Lagoons in Trzebinia, and last but not least, Energylandia – Poland’s largest amusement park, with Europe’s highest and fastest megacoaster.
At the Chrzanów-Pogorzyce Tourist Information Point not only can you get guides, folders, leaflets, maps and plans for free and in several languages, you can also get the most up-to-date information about the town and the region. The PIT cooperates with local, regional and national institutions.
The employees provide expert information on local and regional sights, trails, attractions and events. They can also offer suggestions as to top-quality restaurants and comfortable places to stay overnight.
The PIT can be found in the modern multifunctional building of Pogorzyce Banch of the Chrzanów Municipal Public Library (it is adapted to the needs of the disabled).
The Pogorzyce Tourist Information Point Chrzanów is run by the Municipal Public Library. The PIT is also part of the Małopolska Tourist Information System.
