Tourist region: Beskid Mały i Makowski
And then there is the unique Beskid Wyspowy. These are dozens of picturesque, isolated peaks, which turn into ‘islands’ when foggy weatherrolls in and heavy mists blanket the valleys. They cover an area of around 1,000 sq km of islands and islets, each one unique and inimitable.
For years now, every Sunday, locals and tourists have been conquering successive summits of the Beskid Wyspowy as part of the ‘Discover the Beskid Wyspowy’ summer campaign. They do so in the company of guides, mountain rescuers, regional music, games, competitions, and prizes. All this is a must-see.
Beautifully spread out in the valley of the Krzyworzeka River, Mt Ciecień from the east and Mt Łysina and Mt Lubomir from the west. These picturesque mountains offer exceptional panoramas of the Beskid Wyspowy, the Gorce Mountains, the Tatra Mountains and Podhale, Mt Babia, and Lake Dobczyce.
