The Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz Theatre (Witkacy Theatre) was founded in Zakopane by a group of graduates of the Ludwik Solski Academy of Dramatic Arts from Kraków in 1984. Today it is a cultural institution of the Małopolska Province.

One of the ideas of the Theatre is to discover and refer to the very valuable cultural heritage of Zakopane and to provide an opportunity to experience the metaphysical feeling of “strangeness of existence” through theatre.
