Chechło River estuary into the Vistula Mętków
Nature
In the river, you can see crayfish, perch and pike. It is the second-largest river in the district of Chrzanów. It has its source among the ponds, wetlands and peat bogs of the Dulowska Forest, located in the Dulowska Basin.
The Chechło flows mainly through pine forests, coursing through swamps and bogs and riparian forests Its banks often are lined with alder trees and Kingfisher, crane, European beaver or otter are fond of the river. Midway down the length of the river is the, the Chechło lagoon which, with its renovated leisure and sports infrastructure, attracts many people eager to relax by the water. The river meets the Vistula at the village of Mętków, where you can walk in the footsteps of Karol Wojtyła. There is a larch church from Niegowici where the future Pope was vicar from 1948 to 1949 (it was moved to this site when it was about to be demolished). Mętków is also home to the oldest forester's lodge in the Chrzanów Forest District, where the Prussian Prince Guido Henckel von Donnersmarck had once been an honoured guest.
