Maria Teresa Ledóchowska, nazwana „Matką Afryki”, choć jej stopa nigdy nie stanęła na tym kontynencie. Z pochodzenia hrabianka. Poświęciła życie ratowaniu afrykańskich niewolników, wydając w tym celu czasopisma i zakładając Sodalicję (stowarzyszenie) Świętego Piotra Klawera.
A sister (1863–1922) of St. Ursula, she was the founder of the Order of the Missionary Sisters of Saint Peter Claver S.J., called Claverian Sisters. Born in the Habsburg Empire, she moved together with her parents to Lipnica Murowana in 1883. After 1889, she devoted her life to supporting missions in Africa (which she never visited) and earned the name of “Mother Africa.” Beatified by Pope Paul VI in 1975, she is remembered on July 6.
