After revitalisation, the old limestone quarry in Zabierzów has been transformed into a magnificent recreational area and has become a landmark of the Zabierzów municipality.
Walking paths, a sandy beach, a wooden boardwalk, picnic and campfire areas with magnificent night-time illumination have been created in the quarry area. It is ideal for a family walk and meeting friends in the open air. Limestone that was to be used for chalk was quarried here from1922until 1992, when the quarry was closed. It was later flooded to create a pond. Unfortunately, for sanitary reasons, swimming is not allowed in the pond in the Zabierzów quarry. A nature trail runs through the grounds of the quarry, and a cycle trail and the blue hiking trail from Zabierzów to Mników run nearby. A new road leads from the exit from the national road on Śląska Street in Zabierzów o to the revitalised quarry. A magnificent panorama of the site can be seen from the walkway leading down to the bank of the flooded limestone pit.
