The church was consecrated in 1902. In 1925, a parish was erected in Krynica. The development of the spa and the increase in the number of worshippers, townspeople and tourists necessitated the extension of the church. It was carried out between 1932 and 1935, according to a design by architect Franciszek Mączyński. Originally a Neo-Renaissance building, today it has no stylistic features. It is a church of brick, stone and reinforced concrete, plastered, consisting of three naves and a transept, or transverse nave, left over from the old church, and a narrower chancel with additions of sacristies and a diagonally located, slender tower on a square plan. A dome can be seen above the intersection of the aisles. A triangular gable crowns the classicist front facade.
Inside the church is the main altar, which features a statue of Our Lady of the Assumption made by Zakopane artist Henryk Burzec in 1966, surrounded by a mosaic. In the presbytery of the former church and now opposite the side entrance is the small Chapel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Its centrepiece is a wooden statue of the Saviour and a stone and metal baptismal font from 1960 next to it. It is crowned by a fresco depicting the Baptism of Jesus in the Jordan River. A statue of Saint Joseph the Worker with baby Jesus was placed in the chapel. The interior also includes side altars, stained-glass windows, confessionals from 1936 and 1960, pews and a marble pulpit, as well as an organ from 1972 and bells cast in 1953.
