In the Lapidarium, you will find and touch granite, limestone, dolomite and sandstone. You will see plants that can be encountered in the Tatra Mountains. The Lapidarium, a geological spatial map of the mountains, shows the diversity of inanimate nature and its influence on the vegetation found there. The Tatra Mountains are shown here as a homogenous massif shaped by diverse geological processes, which were the same on both sides of the Polish-Slovakian border. Educational boards in three languages –  Polish, Slovak, English – and in Braille, enable the visitors to broaden their knowledge of the geology of the Tatra Mountains. Wheelchair users can take advantage of a trail around the Lapidarium, which enables them to see everything the mountains have to offer. The Tatra National Park also holds educational workshops on selected dates, using a special teaching aid – a model of the Tatra Mountains made of authentic rocks, which facilitates learning. Geology can not only be interesting, but also surprising – the learners discover that dinosaurs once walked on the rocks in the Tatra Mountains and an ordinary, inconspicuous stone lying at their feet may be even 100 or 300 million years old!
