'Morskie Oko' is a perfect slice of Zakopane near Szczepański Square in Kraków, well within earshot of the bugle call from the St Mary's Tower.
This is the only highland-like inn in Kraków, with highland music, scenery, and atmosphere. The restaurant takes its name from the most famous and largest lake in the Tatra Mountains, located in the Rybi Potok Valley at the foot of the Mięguszowieckie Peaks. Pictures of landscapes and articles of highland clothing hang on the walls; there is even a mill wheel, characteristic of mountain streams. In addition to a ground-floor room with a mezzanine, the inn has spacious cellars where you will completely forget that you are more than 100 kilometres from the Tatra Mountains. The restaurant serves Polish and Podhale cuisine. It is particularly famous for its delicious meats: mutton, veal, sirloin, ribs, pork knuckle, served with fragrant sauces made according to an old recipe. The speciality is also improved in the kitchen, such as dumplings and delicious homemade cakes for dessert. Visitors can also taste regional beverages: miodula staropolska, litworówka, tarninówka and śliwowicy. Tables in the garden overlooking Szczepański Square are also available in summer.
