Owned by the Kraków Agricultural University, the vineyard is located within a historic manor complex in Garlica Murowana near Zielonki. It was initially set up as a collection of orchard plants, but the university authorities decided to use the site in another, presumably better way.

It is worth starting with the name of the site itself, which derives, firstly, from the village of Garlica Murowana, and secondly, from the unusual building, a late Renaissance manorial outbuilding  that originally served as the entrance gate to the manor yard. It is considered to be the oldest monument in the area. The beginnings of the vineyard were quite modest, with just 250 vines, but it was not long before it was decided to turn the site into a real production vineyard. The one-hectare vineyard has excellent growing conditions, fertile soil and ideal sunshine, and, as a result, 5,000 or even 6,000 bottles of certified named wine are produced every year: Uniwersyteckie Grono. They are made from 15 different grape varieties. Initial production was to take place in Garlica Murowana. However, it was decided to move it to the buildings of the university's Faculty of Biotechnology and Horticulture on 29 Listopada Avenue in Kraków, where students have the opportunity to learn the whole process of grape processing and further wine production from the inside out. It is created under modern conditions where it ferments and matures in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. These include both coupage and varietal wines: dry and semi-dry. They have already won more than one award, including at the 6th edition of the Polish Wine Competition, where two white wines won silver and bronze medals. You can convince yourself of their outstanding taste by buying them in the University shop or selected shops and cafés in Kraków. The winery has been on the Małopolska Wine Trail since 2019.
