This is an example of building war cemeteries at existing facilities, in this case at the roadside shrine from 1819.
Within the fenced area belonging to the shrine there is a resting place of 8 Russian soldiers killed at the end of 1914. There existed here probably one mass grave. There are two-armed forged Orthodox crosses on them. Ground tombs, marked with crosses of wrought iron, set on concrete plinths, on one of them – a across mounted on cast iron base with sides formed from a pair of volutes, dated 1914. The cemetery fence is made of massive chains stretched between concrete pillars. The shrine along with the greenery with 2 lindens in the context of the soldiers’ graves has gained a symbolic value as a historical monument.
