Museum of Oil Industry and Ethnography in Libusza

The first oil wells were built in Pusty Las in the Siary commune in the 19th century. Today, in the private Museum of Oil Industry and Ethnography in Libusza, we can learn about the stories and people associated with this industry.
The Museum was founded in 1977 by the former employees of the oil industry, two enthusiasts – Anna and Tadeusz Pabis. The Museum in Libusza has collected more than 1,000 oil-related and ethnographic exhibits, inter alia, oil distillery, mine smithy from the mid-19th century, ceramic gallon containers for oil and paraffin forms, reconstructed oil wells, drilling tools, mining tools, documentation of old mines, maps, photos, notes and diaries by oilmen. The Section of Ethnography holds more than 200 valuable exhibits of folk culture.
