Skałki Twardowskiego Kraków

Twardowski Rocks (Skałki Twardowskiego) Kraków

widok na zalew Zakrzówek, w oddali widok na panoramowe Krakowa

Zakrzówek , 30-001 Kraków Tourist region: Kraków i okolice

They are located in the northern part of the Zakrzówek clearcutting – a structure clearly elevated in relation to its surroundings along fault zones and fringed by ditches – depressions used by watercourses. The height differences here reach up to 50 m. The rocks are mainly made up of limestone, mined in nearby quarries that are no longer in use. Karol Wojtyła, later Pope John Paul II, worked in one of them during the occupation.
A bit of magic, or the Twardowski Rocks Kraków. Another very attractive location in close proximity to Kraków – in famous Zakrzówek. The lagoon, consisting of two larger reservoirs connected by a corridor, creates a picturesque landscape of contrasting rocks with the surface of the water and attracts recreation, both for tourists and local residents. The Twardowskiego Rocks Nature Reserve is located less than 3 km from the centre of Kraków. There is a legend associated with the name of the place, saying that it was here that Master Twardowski ran a school of magic and that the rocks were created by an explosion during one of his experiments. The landscape is absolutely unique – the steep cliffs rising out of the turquoise water are a delight in every season. A diving centre is open at the lagoon. On the Twardowski Rocks, in turn, climbing enthusiasts can try their skills at rock climbing – there are many climbing routes equipped with a fixed belay. The walking area is large and there are also many caves and shelters (e.g., the 500-metre Twardowski Cave). The western part of the hill, developed as a modern park, offers a beautiful panorama of Kraków.
