If you want to dine on homemade lard, pork knuckle, ribs or potato flatbread (moskol) in the heart of Zakopane, this is the place to be. The Zapiecek Inn features high-level regional cuisine and live highlander music.
The history of Krupówki dates back to the mid-19th century, when it was barely a pathway connecting Nawsie and Kuźnice, before the first houses were built here in the 1980s. The name comes from the nearby Krupowa Glade, once owned by the Krupowski, which is to say, the Krup family. Any regular who considers himself worldly must traverse this well-trod, uneven pavement. The Zapiecek Inn is located in the very centre of the city at Krupówki Street. The centrepiece of the restaurant is a whitewashed clay stove. On cold days and evenings, the stove’s crackling fire warms the guests, and the flames’ cheerful glow creates an unforgettable atmosphere. Of particular note in the interior design are old irons, clocks, lamps and many other items used by the inhabitants of the Podhale region decades ago. The restaurant's extensive menu includes dishes prepared according to regional and old Polish cuisine recipes. The inn's speciality is lamb shank in lamb gravy with potato dumplings, grilled peppers, and many other dishes with, of course, a wide range of drinks.
