The church in Lanckorona was founded by King Casimir the Great in the first half of the 14th century; however, its current appearance differs from the original one.
The church was destroyed during the Swedish Deluge and later again, during the Bar Confederation. It was also rebuilt several times over the course of centuries.
While visiting the church, remember to pay attention to the late Renaissance main altar with the painting depicting the Baptism of Christ, also visit the Rosary Chapel, which was added to the nave at the beginning of the 18th century – there, you will find a Baroque altar with the painting of Madonna. Last century, a painting depicting the Golgotha was painted on the outside wall of the chancel.
The church is located in the centre of the town. It is worth paying a visit during a tour of picturesque streets of Lanckorona.
