EUROPEUM – Centre for European Culture, the new branch of the National Museum in Kraków, was established in a historic building of the old Granary located in the vicinity of the monastery buildings and gardens of the Capuchins.Currently, EUROPEUM performs both exhibition (exhibition of medieval and modern Western European art) and educational functions (inter alia, workshops, school lessons). It is also a cultural centre open to residents of Kraków and visitors to the city. Here, lectures, meetings, and discussions on subjects related to European art and culture are organised. An attractive setting for all events is the first independent exhibition of Western European painting and sculpture from the 12th to the 20th century, from the collections of the National Museum in Kraków.What is exhibited here, are the examples of Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical and modern sculpture as well as numerous Gothic and Renaissance paintings from Italian, German and Dutch schools (Paolo Veneziano, Lorenzo Lotto, Pieter Brueghel the Younger), Italian, Flemish and Dutch paintings of the Baroque, Classicism and Romanticism eras as well as works of modern art.
