The house where Stanisław Wyspiański was born, was purchased in 1932 by Józef Mehoffer, painter of the turn of the 19th and 20th century, Jan Matejko’s disciple.

The artist gave the building the features of the family palace. In 1996, after the necessary renovation and conservation works, the Józef Mehoffer biographical museum was opened here. In the rooms, we may see, inter alia, authentic furniture, library, iconographic materials, photos, family heirloom and works of the artist. Also, the restoration of the Young Poland Garden designed by Mehoffer proved successful.
