What does fish have in common with Baltic amber, and what does it mean to press amber? In the Kraków museum dedicated to the mysteries of amber, you will learn, among other things, what red and blue amber is, how it is extracted and inspected, and how its authenticity is determined.

In the heart of Kraków, the modern Amber Room has been created. In its elegant interiors, exhibits on loan from the Museum of the Earth PAS in Warsaw tell the fascinating history of amber. At the same time, the museum shop mixes tradition with modernity – from classic amber beads to delightfully feminine necklaces and bracelets to unique sculptures and utility objects.

The museum houses unique exhibits, showcasing the natural beauty of amber, appreciating its beauty and the variety of its forms and colours and attesting to its uniqueness, providing valuable knowledge on the formation of amber and the history of processing it. Moreover, you can admire a unique nugget of amber that holds within it a drop of water—or maybe even a few!

Step into our interactive laboratory, where you can personally verify the authenticity of your own amber. The study uses an infrared spectroscopy method. In addition to the permanent exhibition, the museum hosts temporary exhibitions of ancient and contemporary art. There is also a tour tailored to school children and young people.

A gallery belonging to the Boruni network operates next to the Amber Museum. It offers jewellery made from natural Baltic amber. Cosmetics and other amber-based products can also be purchased.
