The most valuable, the richest, the most breathtaking - these are the words used to describe the art collection of the Czartoryski Museum in Kraków. It can be admired in the historic Czartoryski Palace at 15 Pijarska Street.

The Lady with an Ermine by Leonardo da Vinci or Landscape with the Good Samaritan by Rembrandt van Rijn, as well as many other masterpieces, not only in painting but also in sculpture, crafts, militaria and applied arts, can be seen in 26 rooms on two floors of the renovated Czartoryski Museum - Palace. In 1801, Princess Izabela nee von Flemming Czartoryska created a collection of national memorabilia. The collections gathered by her were presented in Puławy in two park pavilions: the Sybil Temple and the Gothic House from 1809. Leonardo da Vinci's Lady with an Ermine and Rembrandt van Rijn's Landscape with the Good Samaritan were exhibited in the latter. Among the pearls of the then Czartoryski collection was also Portrait of a Young Man by Raphael Santi (lost during World War II). However, the Museum did not survive the November Uprising, and the collections were transported to Paris after Prince Adam Jerzy Czartoryski's emigration in 1831. They did not return to Poland until 1876, when the opening of a museum in Kraków was planned. The Second World War brought significant losses to the collection. After the war, the Museum came under the care of the National Museum in Kraków, and the Princes Czartoryski Foundation began to manage it in 1991. On 29 December 2016, the government of the Republic of Poland purchased the collections of the Princes Czartoryski, and they became an integral part of the National Museum in Kraków.
