Tourist region: Jura Krakowsko-Częstochowska
Jura Vineyard is a relatively young vineyard on the Małopolska Wine Trail – it was planted in 2015, and a year later test wines were produced here The first harvest was in 2017 and wine production soon followed . The plantation belongs to the family of Mr and Mrs Miszczak – Joanna, a certified sommelier, and Marcin – a former Argentine tango instructor and dancer, who fell in love with the beverage while in Argentina. The plantation covers as much as 4 ha, on which nine grape varieties are grown – including Johanniter,, Solaris, Cabernet Cortis, and Chardonnay.
The cultivation is located at an altitude of approximately 320–350 metres, in a part of the south-south-western slope. There is a sandy loam soil on a calcareous subsoil containing a lot of rock crumbs, which improves its permeability and airiness. This is the southernmost edge of the Krakow-Częstochowa Upland. The terrain below the vineyard slopes down first quite steeply, several dozen metres, and then gently to the Vistula river flowing a few kilometres away, whose surface is approximately 220 metres above sea level.
The vines are grown here organically, without artificial fertilisers or pesticides. The owners organise tours and tastings for groups. Their wines can be purchased on-site, in the online shop and also in some wine shops in Krakow.
