In the villages of Powiśle Dąbrowski, the outer walls of huts and farm buildings were painted with flowers at the end of the 19th century. Fences, wells and dog kennels, as well as the interiors of huts, walls, stoves, doors and shutters were decorated in a similar way. The rooms were decorated with colourful tissue paper flowers, cutouts and straw spiders hanging from the ceiling. This ornamentation was created at the end of the 18th century, when women whitened the smoky walls with lime and embellished them with multi-coloured plant paintings.Zalipie is a picturesque village, but not only in it, for several generations, the custom of painting houses and rooms with original plant patterns has been cultivated and developed. Today there are about 20 painted houses in Zalipie, including Felicja Curyłowa's farm, today a branch of the District Museum in Tarnów. Felicja Curyłowa was a propagator of unique art and an outstanding painter, her house was and is frequently visited by lovers of folk art. The works of many Zalipie artists have been gathered in the Farm and the Municipal Cultural Center, Dom Malarek. In Zalipie, you can visit the richly decorated and equipped hut of the painter and poet Stefania Łączyńska. The house is an outstanding example of traditional decorative art. Next to it, there is a log, one-room, thatched hut with a living room, a cowshed and a pigsty under one roof. The walls of the house are whitewashed with lime and decorated with beautiful plant paintings. Other decorated buildings in the village are inhabited. Traditional paintings can also be seen at the fire station, kindergarten and school, and in the church, the interior of which is covered with floral motifs.
