In 1876 Antoni Hawełka opened a restaurant “Hawełka” in the tenement house “Pod Krzysztofory” in the Main Square.
Initially it was situated on the first floor in rooms decorated by Włodzimierz Tetmajer, where a beautiful frieze depicting the life of a legendary wizard Twardowski is worthy a note. Artists and professors of the Jagiellonian University used to often come here. Nowadays, the rooms house “Tetmajerowska” Restaurant and “Hawełka” is located on the ground floor.
