St. Cross Church in the Holy Ghost Square is one of the oldest churches in Kraków.
In 1896-1897 Stanisław Wyspiański worked there on reconstructing the polychromes. The Artist hoped he could complete the missing parts of the paintings with his original frescoes. However, these were false hopes. Unable to fulfil his ambitions he ended his cooperation with the architect Tadeusz Stryjeński in anger.
