Synagoga Izaaka Kraków
Isaak Synagogue in Krakow
The synagogue was founded in 1638 by one of the most eminent merchants in the 17th-century Krakow - Reb Eisik Jekeles, hence the name Isaak synagogue.
There is a legend related to the founding of the synagogue saying that its founder had had a prophetic dream in which he found a treasure under his own stove, thanks to which he could found the synagogue. The building of the synagogue, which for centuries has been the most presentable among the prayer houses in Krakow, was built in the late Baroque style. Today, the Isaak synagogue, handed over to the Hasidim after renovation, performs its cult function again.
