Amonit Vineyard
Aleja Parkowa 41, 32-043 Cianowice
Tourist region: Jura Krakowsko-Częstochowska
The Amonit vineyard is located in the buffer zone of the Ojców National Park about 20 km from Kraków in the village of Cianowice. The site is located quite high, about 400 metres above sea level.
The vineyard's origins date back to 2008, when Marcin Niemiec, the owner, decided to plant a few rows of vines near his house on a rendzina. The plantation is situated on a well-sunlit, south-facing slope descending gently towards the Korzkiewka valley, in a place sheltered from the north winds by a dense line of buildings. The soil here is typical of the region's calcareous rendzina, consisting of rock crumbs and clays. In its present form, the vineyard covers an area of 45 acres. The vineyard has three strains – for white wines it is Solaris and Johanniter, and grapes of the regent variety for red wines. The wines from Amonit Vineyard, especially the white wines, are prominent at many tastings, where they are gaining a very good reputation. Once the planned expansion of the plantation is completed, the wines will be available in restaurants and wine shops.
